Otto cycle is a thermodynamic cycle whereupon a flash start motor works. Flash Ignition (or SI) motor purposes petroleum (or Gasoline) as fuel. Otto cycle was developed by Nicolas Otto in 1876.
Flash start motor is a sort of gas powered motors.
The following are P-V and T-S Diagrams of the Otto Cycle.

T-S Diagram |
Process 1-2
This cycle comes after consumption process. If there should be an occurrence of SI motors, admission is a combination of fuel and air, otherwise called charge. In this cycle charge is packed in isentropic way.
Process 2-3
In this cycle the fuel gets impacted with the assistance of outside flash (for that reason the motor is known as flash start motor). This interaction is a steady volume heat expansion process.
Process 3-4
After the ignition cycle, the exhaust gases use. This cycle is an isentropic extension process.
Process 4-1
After the development cycle, exhaust valve opens. This outcomes into abrupt drop of tension inside motor chamber. This interaction is a consistent volume heat dismissal process.
Note: Process 0-1 is the admission endlessly process 1-0 is the exhaust interaction
Effectiveness of Otto Cycle
Effectiveness of the Otto Cycle is the proportion of work result to the intensity input.
Work yield = [CV(T3-T2)] - [CV(T4-T1)]
Heat Input = CV(T3-T2)
Effectiveness = Work Output/Heat Input
In the wake of investing upsides of intensity information and energy yield in the above recipe, we get
η = 1 - [(T4-T1)/(T3-T2)]
